It is hidden behind one of the world’s most beautiful scenery, the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro. Moshi is Tanzania's coffee producing centre of the country. The town is set in a fertile volcanic area, well fed by streams off the mountain, ideal for Arabica Coffee crops, the most rewarding local export. Moshi's lower altitude and drier climate mean that the main crops grown on the higher slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, coffee and bananas, do not thrive there.
The outskirts of Moshi are known for extensive farms of maize and beans, grown once per year during the long rainy season. Moshi's primary port of entry is Kilimanjaro International Airporth (JRO) used on domestic routes by Air Tanzania and Precision Air and by KLM/Air France on iInternational routes.
